Mission: Impossibly Possible - FEATURE #2

Welcome to the second edition of the Mission: Impossibly Possible weekly art features!

Before I set you loose in this sumptuous managerie of perfectly articulated artwork, I would like to clarify some things. I know that more than a week has passed since the last "weekly" update. We would like to apologize for the extended delay, changed the way we contact and get a hold of featured artists, and this caused a catastrophic delay in the update, as some of the artists never got back to him. In response to this, we are switching back to the original method this coming week, whereby we find the artists, inform them that we would like to feature their work, and hand select the three works that we will feature. This past week     tried a more diplomatic approach, where he let the artists select their three works and get back to him. As it turns out, that is not the best way to do a weekly feature! The artists are not always available, and sometimes will not contact us at all, as was the case for one of the artists in our first weekly features.

So, without further ado, we give you the second weekly features selection! Feast your unwavering eyes upon the marvelous treasure we have discovered buried deep within the long, dark mineshafts of DeviantArt!

'Mission: Impossibly Possible' Q & A

What is Mission: Impossibly Possible all about?

This is a collaboration between () and I to find, feature, and promote artists that are unknown but have great potential. Each week, we feature a new batch of the top three works of 10 or so artists.

Can I ask to be featured?

It depends. If you meet our criteria (see: What is our Featuring Criteria?), then perhaps. You must relize that the purpose of this project is to promote unknown artists, and while there is no shame in wanting to be popular, deliberately asking us to feature you isn't exactly fair for everyone, because then if we feature every single artists that messages us, there wouldn't be room for anyone else, and it would seem like nothing more than a really long waiting list that you would have to wait through in order to be featured. This is, of course, assuming we are going to be popular enough ourselves to warrant a mass message eruption from the community. Here's to hoping?

What is our featuring criteria?

When deciding to feature an artist, we take many things into account. The first major criteria, is pageviews. If you have over 4000 pageviews, then you automatically do not meet the criteria for a feature. The second criteria requires you to ask yourself these three questions:
1. "Am I dedicated to art?"
2. "Am I willing to improve as an artist and accept constructive criticism?
3. "Would being well known be a benefit to me in any way?" (For example, if you are an artist that is thinking about selling prints or taking commissions, and have less than 4,000 page views. Or you feel you are not popular enough to start off.)

What does it mean to be featured?

When we feature an artist, we add their top three works to Weekly Features collections on both me and SITONU'S() profiles. And once we are stable and firmly established, I will be featuring their work in the thumbshare forums. Along with promotion of their work, I take the time to critique and give feedback to the featured artists.

Why on Earth are you taking the time to do this?



Simply put, we love art, and we know there are many artists out there that are talented, but not popular. They have potential, but maybe not the gumption to promote themselves. We all(especially me) know what it feels like to be overlooked, and it isn't a good feeling. It's like being a tiny fish in an ocean packed full of bigger, shinier, and more popular fish.
That is why we are doing this. For the good of all art-kind!
